A bra can carry many times the components of a t-shirt. Here is what that does to your product data.
A basic t-shirt can be two main body panels. A molded-cup bra can have more than 20 separate pieces, and a heavily detailed style can run past 40. Components can carry supplier, color, consumption, size, cost and specification data. Those parts often arrive from suppliers in several different countries. The same pressure runs across the category, from bralettes and shapewear to nursing bras and sleepwear. Intimate apparel is among the most component-dense categories in apparel, and most teams still manage it in spreadsheets. That works right up until it doesn't.
The BOM is the product
An intimate’s bill of materials runs deep. Shell, lining, foam, lace, elastic, underwires, rings, sliders, hook-and-eyes, labels, and packaging. Two details break generic systems. First, consumption changes with size, because elastic yardage on a 44H is nothing like a 30A. Second, colorways carry real cost differences, not rounding errors. One color across many substrates
Elastic, lace, molded foam, and a knit shell all take dye differently. They arrive from different suppliers. Then the bra has to match its brief.
